On top it says "Thomas Jefferson" and the bottom "3rd President 1801 - 1809"

On the back is a picture of the statue of liberty. 

My stepfather found this coin at work(he works at a metal recycling place)and he wanted to know how much its worth if anything thanks.

Hey coinz welcome to the forum!
Your coin is worth $1. It is part of the mint's presidental dollar series. http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/$1coin/index.cfm This is a link to the U.S. Mint's info page on it. The date for this coin should be on the rim if I'm not mistaken.
Sorry your coin isn't worth more, but hey a dollar saved is a dollar earned.

Definitely. Since this is a series, keep an eye out for the other presidents, I believe the mint is up to Johnson, somewhere around there.
