Dear Coin Forumists!
I have had this token in my family's possession for as long as I know, http://www.omnicoin.com/coin/950362 and would like to know if it is a rare find and if it holds any significant value.
My coin though is alot different!
For starters it is written in English and the detailing on the reverse of the coin is in itself reversed i.e it is facing right rather than left. Most importantly it bears the date May 4th 1747 the date in which this chappy hereditary took over the United Provinces (Netherlands) where as this coin clearly doesn't.
![]() ![]() I am aware that at this time there were 3 master guilders which could account for the slight differences in design but I wouldn't have thought the text/language would change! I wonder if mine is a possible forgery and if this poses any interest in the coin collecting world.
Many thanks. Edited by drew.star24 - 07 Nov 2010 at 11:09am |
