Hello there,

I was out with my metal detector a couple of days ago when I found this coin.  As you can see, it's not in geat condition but there is a faint image on it.  From what there is to see , can any one here identify it?

I think I can see a thistle with a crown above it.  I found it in the field behind my house, near Aberdeen.

Is this any better?   The right hand coin is an image of what I thing I can see.

A French Sou. It is a fairly scarce coin, but, it's only worth about $10 in this condition.

Cheers!  I wasn't expecting it to be valuable, I have a few more but they are in even worse condition.   Do you know how old it is and what metal it could be made of?


Also... Do you have any cleaning tips?

I found out today that the coin you said was a French Sou is actually A Scottish Bawbee.

Hopefully I find some more interesting things.
