I just recieved my silver proof set from the mint and the Samoan .25 has a "ghost" o. I've never seen an error in a proof set ..heard of die cracks but to have just an outline of the "o" in Samoa I am shocked. Is this an isolated incident and should I have this coin graded by NGC..Since it is a Silver Proof and almost, if not definately a DCameo-69(dare I say 70), the error is easily recognized and observed... I'll down-load pictures later since It is still in the case and my digital shows too much reflection...Any thoughts suggestions..how rare is this occurance.

Thanx Shotgunsteve

Yes, it certainly looks like a ghost O. Send it to ICG or ANACS, and, see what they say, then send it to Bill Fivaz, so it's cataloged. Good find. Welcome to the forum!

What you have is a greased filled die on a proof coin, errors on proof coins are very scarce and can bring a nice premium I don't know for sure how much,

A cool coin indeed.

You might try looking at this site, it shows one like yours with a struck through error. Scroll down to Samoan .25.
