silver dollars - Event Date: 10 Feb 2009

My dad has a silver dollar that I cannot find any where on the internet. On the front it has a woman facing left with stars around her head. It says 1878 under her head. On the back it says United States of America across the top. under it has a circle of stars. Inside it says metric 1-g. 16.1-s. 1.9c. grams 14.25.  At the very bottom it says 100 cents. I was wondering if someone could tell me what kind of coin this is.  Also how I can find out what it is worth.

That is a Morgan dollar. It's value depends on condition and for that particular year, variety. Please post a picture. Welcome to the forum.

I don't have a picture it belongs to my Dad and he lives pretty far away. He said he would send a pic when he gets the chance. Thank you for the feedback. I'll let him know.
