North American Certified Trading

Acquires Ellesmere Numismatics

(Irvine, California) – North American Certified Trading (NACT) of Irvine, California, a division of Spectrum Numismatics, has acquired Ellsemere Numismatics of New Milford, Connecticut.

Jim Fehr, President of Ellesmere, was named NACT’s Director of Sales and Marketing, and James Rottman, Ellesmere’s Senior Numismatist, was named to a similar position with NACT.  They will relocate from Connecticut to the NACT office in Southern California.

“Jim Fehr has enjoyed an excellent reputation among collectors and dealers for decades. He has written over 150 coin related articles, and bought and sold nearly $100 million in rare coins,” said Andrew Glassman, NACT President.

“The philosophy of Ellesmere Numismatics has been to provide high quality certified coins to its clients and to educate investors and collectors alike on how to buy and sell certified US coins.  Ellesmere has developed a market niche, and is well known for its high-quality certified walking Liberty half dollars, Morgan silver dollars and St. Gaudens gold pieces.”

Ellesmere Numismatics opened in 1978. Fehr joined the company in 1986, and purchased it in 1991.  The company’s coin market analysis newsletter, “The Winning Edge,” will be combined with NACT’s “Rare Coin Market Report” newsletter and be available online ( as well as by mail.

“By teaming up with North American Certified Trading, we will be able to bring our valued customers a better variety of certified coins at more competitive prices.  Our philosophy for our collectors and investors is to purchase coins certified by PCGS or NGC based on scarcity, quality and popularity,” said Fehr.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
