Hi I just joined this forum and my first post concerns a coin or token I found. I'm a metal detectorist from Chicago. Recently, I recovered the beautifully looking coin or token attached from an old Chicago park. It came out really clean. It reads Republique Francaise, but it has the same profile and legend in both sides (inverted 180 degrees). I have not seen a picture of it online and have read articles about double headed fake coins. Upon careful inspection I ahve not seen any seams inside or on the edge. The word Francaise lacks the c-cedillo (little hook) under the leter C. However, many folks say that the coin is indeed French. How it made it to a Chicago park and whether is genuine or fake are questions am still
investigating. Any thoughts?
