This is an important article that can save Morgan Dollar colectors money. The article has pictures and examples of DMPL, PL AND PR Morgan Dollars and how to identify them. Ebay has too many auctions where the seller makes PL claims on coins that are not, and this article addresses this problem.

Thanks for the advice. I read elsewhere that to be considered DMPL the surfaces only have to reflect 4 inches of a ruler. Which is true?

I am a youth coin collector interested in Morgan Dollars. "Morgan Chicken" is the name some of my collector friends refer to them as!

My info comes from NGC and PCGS, anything else I don't consider as reliable.
