Yeah, not bad. I just use a Microtek scanner bed at 1000dpi, but I might purchase a small studio setup after reading that.

After looking through this site, the fundamental suggestions are very good. The affect of using the backlit station seems a bit off.

I call the results feel good photo's, or photo's that hide problems. This method also will usually not show much luster as well.

For most coin photography you really need a light source close to the lens of the camera pointing down toward the coin.

Checkout http://browncopper.com/ there is a fantastic article about coin photography there. The author Mark Goodman also just published a book on coin photography. If you do a search on Amazon for his name it will come right up.
