One expensive Sacagawea...

While I would love to add one of these to my collection I would never pay that kind of money for this particular modern coin. I could buy a classic, or two, that would ALWAYS be a safe bet compared to this "risky" venture. One must always keep in mind some day you may want to sell and I am not so sure these will always hold the demand or interest they do now. Not to mention a ton of folks will bid on an item just to say they did and all they are doing is driving the price. And of course there are those who have friends running bids as well! I wouldn't want to get caught up in this!

I kept my 2000 cheerios cent. Why would someone get it graded? Its not worth anything...

The Cheerios Cent and Dollar were part of a Millennium promotion by General Mills in late 99 early 2000 (This in itself is flawed, as the true Millennium occured in 2001, but whatever).

The auction pictures are not really good enough to see what makes the Cheerios Dollars special, but a good picture (which you can probably find Googling) will show you that the tail feathers on the reverses of these Sacagaweas have more detail than the regular business strike coins. The Cheerios Dollars were struck in 1999 so that GM could get them boxed and distributed properly (Interestingly enough, the REAL golden Sacagaweas(Judd-2190) sent into space were made from the same dies). By the time regular business strikings were produced in 2000, the dies had been reworked and the feather detail was lessend.

So, yes, they are patterns.

The Cheerios Cent is not necessarily a special type like the dollar is. This particular one happens to be a Wide AM variety, which I believe stems from proof dies being used for business strike coins. But that's another story entirely.

I think that this coin will hold its value... they were a special prize to begin with (everyone who got a Millennium box of Cheerios got a cent, but the dollar was far rarer) and many were probably not saved. So the uncovering of a large 'hoard' in non-numismatic hands is relatively unlikely, at least I would think so.

i went and looked at that auction Ithink its BS bidder has know history
4000.00 RIGHT .Don't believe  this ebay price or bidder are real

O and by the way the seller has never sold anything for any price.trying to test the market bet he/she have a few more
