i have found a maryland quarter that looks like to be an error and i have been trying to figure it out...it looks to be all silver if you look at the edge...i know there have been some that have been plated that are worthless(other than face value) but the weight of the quarter is 6.1 grams....plating would not explain almost half a gram difference in weight...it is also thicker than standard quarter thickness...is there anyone who can help me find out what is going on with this quarter...the local coin shop could not explain what this anomoly is...any help would be wonderful...thanks

Could be a silver proof coin. Normally they're in slabs but someone could have opened one of the slabs up to get one of the coins graded.
