I have 2 1976 Eisenhower dollars.  One is a 1976 D, type 1 that is copper nickel clad.  The other is a 1976 with no mint mark, type 2 and is all silver.  I am getting ready to sell all my coins and haven't been able to find a value for this all silver coin. The coin has been circualted.  From what I have read the silver variations of this coin were in proof sets.  Why would someone take it out of a proof container?

It would be 40% silver not all silver. Accually the outer layer of .800 silver & .200 copper bonded to an inner core of .209 silver & .791 copper. Todays melt value is at $10.72 for a 40% silver Ike.
I would not expect to get this much from it. Any number of reasons could be why it was in circulation. I like to prescribe to the reason that coins are broken out of their mint containers by people that just do not care about the numismatic value of the coins but just the face value and can only see an immediate turn around on receipt though inheritance, gifted of by theft.
Just my opinion.

Thanks. I wasn't able to find info on the type 2 sliver coin, only the type 1.  I did trade it yesterday.  I started collecting coins when I was 13, quit after high school.  Hadn't looked a the coins for over 15 years so I figured it was time to let someone else appreciate them.  Got a total of $1900 trade for something else I will enjoy for quite some time.  Sure glad now I put some of my money back then into coins instead of spending it on junk.  Coins were a good investment for me.
