![]() Hello, I found this in a Bank Roll.. I did some Research and found out that David Brenners
Original Design of the Linclon Penny did not Include "In God We Trust" also President
Roosevelt had approved the Design without "In God We Trust" but he left the office
and President Taft was shown both with and without the Motto " In God We Trust" and
choose the one with!! About 200 or so Prototypes were made also and left the MINT to
be shown the Elite of the Congress....(Source) Wikipidi,PGCS history online.
Question: Is this one of the TEST RUNS? How rare? and Worth?
From Letters by LEACH the Chief of the MINT at the time in 1909 David Brenner was told to
change the coin pre-Designs but he did not! In a letter he was told " you did not lower the
Head of Lincoln from the Top" Leach asked someone else to do it and that created FREE space
up top thus perfect for the motto "In God We Trust"
Also Notice in the Coin, the lower part of Licolns jacket is overlapping the coin...and Top half of
Linclons image is HIGH nearly touching the Edge. All this in agreement with the Original Design.
I look foward to the input from all EXPERTS online. God Bless!

A picture makes all the difrence. I can see were " In God We Trust" was at one time even though the last two diggets i can't. The head is at normal postion and it's a circulated cent.
Good luck.

Hi Beck,
I am absolutely brand new to the forum; joined last night. It looks as if this Lincoln is quite worn and as Bryan said before me the "IN GOD WE TRUST" can be made out albeit extremely faintly. It almost looks as if the edge has been "rounded" as well. That probably could just be the angle at which the cent was photographed. I look forward to what the real experts have to say also! Good luck with your question Regards |
