![]() Dont' worry I've one too, and I've got this money from volcano island (samosir islan) in the midle of lake toba. the 1804 weight is 27.2 gram or less & diameter 39.5 mm, I'ask local jawerly they said it made from silver & cooper . trade dollar weight 28.4 gram or less, diameter 38.1, made from silver and cooper the morgan weght 29 gram, diameter 38.1 mm, made from silver & cooper I've study it too, and I belive it's real because it's more than hundred years there. I've ask some expert, no one can belive even we got in dexter pocket. please take a look what I've got some hobby from local samosir island Dear Mr. Reid please read this one. Thank you. The writer is a clerical officer with a passion for solo travel. Photos by Andy Gwee. This article was first published in Life!, The Straits Times on April 15, 2008. form : Please visit the web.Thank you http://www.asiaone.com/Travel/Places%2B%2526%2BInterests/Interests/Story/A1Story20080415-59977.html ----------------------------------------------- Yulvando write: One reasonable why the coin was there. Remember this is not my story, I'm sorry. I'm just do my home work.I don't know them who Photos this island, I don't know the publisher form the straits times and it was 6 month ago. ----------------------------------------------- 5 things to do 1 Do engage the locals in conversation. Many of them speak reasonably good English and will share a lot about the island. 2 Do carry S$1 coins to hand out to locals who have been helpful. Many of them collect foreign coins as souvenirs. 3 Do attend Si Galegale performances which are put up at several venues. It is up to you if you want to place money in the doll’s hand (below). 4 Do read guidebooks and, if possible, Forgotten Kingdoms In Sumatra before visiting Samosir to better understand what the island has to offer. 5 Do show respect by dressing modestly and behaving appropriately when visiting and photographing the decorative tombs all over the island. 2 don'ts 1 Don’t tip too heavily, so as not to spoil the locals into expecting big handouts from subsequent visitors. 2 Don’t speed when riding a rented motorbicycle. There are no hospitals on Samosir. Historian-cum-archaeologist F. M. Schnitger visited Samosir in the 1930s during his exploration of Sumatra, and a chapter in his subsequent book published in 1939, Forgotten Kingdoms In Sumatra, provided comprehensive descriptions and pictures of these tombs. regard Yulvando Asril --- On Tue, 11/4/08, Reid Goldsborough <reidgold@comcast.net> wrote: > From: Reid Goldsborough <reidgold@comcast.net> > Subject: Re: Please check trade dollar 1876 s > To: "asril yulvando" <yulvando@yahoo.com> > Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 9:36 AM > asril yulvando wrote: > > Dear Mr. Reid > > > > Thank You for your information. I know this thread is old, but... all three of the coins pictured are cast counterfeits. Sorry.
