Came across what looks to be this coin in a relative's collection. She passed them on to our family and I don't know the first thing about coin collecting.

I've read some stuff online about this particular coin, but the info seems to be all over the board.  

Is this something I should have someone take a look at, or is this most likely a $20-$30 piece that wouldn't even grade.  

It's in very poor shape, but was able to see enough of it to track down what type of coin it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a worn large cent. I would take it to several coin shops and get an opinion from each or a local coin show. Probably not worth a ton, but worth selling...  someone will give it a good home, if real.
